Hi, I’m Takumi. I’m originally from Hokkaido and have lived in Tokyo for more than 20 years. I work as an engineer at an IT-related company in Japan, have more than 20 years of experience in technology, and have been blogging since 2016.
Why I write Takumi Blog
Travel and everyday services can be confusing when the practical details are hard to find. Takumi Blog is a place where I organize those details into clear, useful guides: what a service does, what you need before using it, how to get started, and what alternatives to consider.
The blog started with Japanese-language articles about transportation and digital services. I’m now developing an English section, Practical Japan, to help international visitors prepare for a trip and solve everyday questions while they are here.
What Practical Japan covers
- Transportation: taxis, ride-hailing, trains, and getting from the airport.
- Connectivity: eSIMs, mobile data, Wi-Fi, and useful digital tools.
- Payments: cards, cash, transit IC cards, and common payment questions.
- Travel essentials: practical items to pack or buy for a trip to Japan.
How I research and write
I distinguish my own experiences from information gathered through research. Where possible, I check official guidance and service-provider information, explain limitations, and point readers toward details they can verify for themselves. Services, prices, and rules may change, so please confirm the latest terms with the relevant provider before making a decision.
My goal isn’t to list every sightseeing spot. It’s to make the practical side of visiting Japan easier to understand, one question at a time.
